For our friends in Western Australia and Queensland, keep these stunning locations in mind when for when your holiday comes up later in the year. Victoria - Wilson’s Promontory National Park
If you've ever been to the Tidal River campsite in the peak of Summer, you will know how busy this spectacular spot can be. However venture here in winter and you will be pleasantly surprised - you could very well be strolling along the Squeaky Beach by yourself! The kids will be delighted by the resident wombats which can be observed in the campgrounds in large numbers around dusk.
New South Wales - Booderee National Park, Jervis Bay
With its stunning white sand beaches and a choice of 3 unpowered camping sites with camper trailer access, Booderee is the perfect place for a winter getaway. Add to that the chance to see humpback and southern right whales on their annual migration to warmer waters in Queensland and you have an ideal situation for a perfect family trip.
ACT - Namadgi National Park
This stunning park features ancient monolithic boulders and covers 106,000 hectares. Set up your camping trailer with your family for a relaxing getaway at one of its range of campgrounds - try Honeysuckle, Orroral or Mt Clear. Explore the many walks around the area and be amazed by the spectacular scenery.
Queensland - Lake Cootharaba
The Boreen point campsite at Lake Cootharaba is the perfect destination for families and only a 2.5-hour drive from Brisbane CBD. Perched on the shore of a lake with shallow waters perfect for swimming for all the family, this is a gorgeous spot for a getaway. It also features facilities such as a skate bowl and playground to keep the little ones entertained. Perfect for a relaxing getaway, it's best to arrive in the morning at this site, as sites are first come first served.
Western Australia - Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park
This park features stunning beach after stunning beach, which ranges from excellent surfing to perfect swimming. If you're after swimming with the family, try Yallingup, Injidup, Smiths Beach and Bunker Bay. There are numerous campsites in this national park, so it’s a matter of choosing your favourite beach and finding a site that suits your family.
South Australia - Lake Eyre National Park
The cooler weather at this time of year is perfect to explore this beautiful national park. There are three camping areas, and these are 4x4 access only. The kids will love exploring the natural phenomenon of Lake Eyre, with many areas able to be walked through on foot.
