6 pet-friendly parks for Easter4/8/2019
Article from: RV Daily
Easter might be best known for egg hunts, hat parades and obscene amounts of chocolate, but we reckon the best thing about it is the extra-long weekend it promises. But finding someone to look after your four-legged friend for four days can be tricky, so we’ve done a roundup of our favourite pet-friendly holiday parks around Oz.
Riverbend Caravan Park, Renmark, SA
As the name denotes, this caravan park is a relaxing riverside retreat, ideal for ‘vanners and campers seeking a peaceful getaway. This shady, tree-lined park is family and pet-friendly. Riverfront powered sites start from $40 a night, while all other powered sites start from $36. They even have large sites to cater for fifth-wheelers (available upon request). There is a dump point within the park, as well as modern facilities, plus a playground and bounce pillow. Being right by the river, you can have a go at fishing, canoeing or kayaking. There is also a sandy-bottomed swimming area, perfect for the kids.
Fraser Coast Top Tourist Caravan Park, Qld
Hervey Bay is an obvious destination choice for those seeking an idyllic summer holiday. There are plenty of places to stay in this tropical paradise, but the four-star, multi-award winning Fraser Coast Top Tourist Caravan Park would have to be one of the top choices. The park is family-owned and welcomes both regular kids and fur-kids. The park is so close to the beach that you can hear the waves crashing on the shore; you will also be within strolling distance of various restaurants and shops. Spacious powered sites are near the clean amenities, guest laundry, camp kitchen (with pizza oven and barbecue area). There’s also a huge rec room with a pool table, table tennis and heaps of games.
Latrobe Mersey River Cabin & Caravan Park, Tas
Just eight minutes from the ferry terminal, Latrobe Mersey is located in the beautiful river gardens of Bells Parade, near Devonport. This quiet park is a great base from which to explore the many attractions in north-western Tasmania. You’ll be a walk away from the CBD, where you will find fine restaurants, clubs and shopping. There are 40 powered sites and plenty of unpowered camping sites, plus a large covered camp kitchen with wood fire, modern amenities and laundry, flat level parking and excellent TV/digital reception. Stroll the lovely tree-lined grass pathways alongside the river and see if you can spot the elusive platypus dip and dive along the riverbank for food at dusk and early morning.
Best Friend Holiday Retreat, Vic
This holiday park loves your pets almost as much as you do, with six individual off-leash areas, a dog hydrobath hut and dog playgrounds. The park, which encompasses 10 acres of parklands and gardens, is just two-and-a-half-hours’ east of Melbourne, just 3km from the rainforest of Tarra-Bulga National Park and less than a half-hour drive from the beach.
Caravan sites are securely fenced to keep your four-legged bestie in; there’s covered barbecues and camp kitchen areas, with a cooktop, microwave, refrigerator, hot and cold water and yes – your pets can dine with you. By night, toast marshmallows or chestnuts on your own private campfire, and by day, pick your own organic fruit, nuts and berries.
Canton Beach Holiday Park, NSW
The Central Coast of NSW has no shortage of beautiful beaches to explore. At the pet-friendly Canton Beach Holiday Park, you will be close to Lakes Beach, Soldiers Beach, Norah Head and, of course, Canton Beach. You will be right on the shores of the scenic Tuggerah Lakes, where you can fish, boat (there’s a boat ramp within the park), bike ride around the lake, and bushwalk through the nearby national parks. You will also be just minutes from the bowling club, pub, cafes, restaurants and shops. There are clean amenities, sheltered barbecues, a camp kitchen and jumping pillow available to you if you stay on one of the spacious sites. Powered sites in off-peak season start from $28 per night.
Mandalay Holiday Resort, WA
If you haven’t been to Busselton yet, consider making this your 2018/19 summer holiday destination. Located in the Margaret River Region on the south-west tip of Western Australia, Busselton is brimming with attractions. Take a romantic stroll along Busselton Jetty, explore the majestic Ludlow Tuart Forest, and bring the kids along to interact with the animals at the Wonky Windmill Farm. Stay at Mandalay Holiday Resort, on one of the ensuite sites or powered sites that sleep up to six. Guests can make use of the camp kitchen, general shop, WiFi and laundry, plus a clean amenities block. With a heated pool, waterslide, games room, giant jumping pillow and four adventure playgrounds, the kids will have a blast. Pets are welcome from May to November, except during school holidays.
